Spread holiday cheer without giving money

Hi friends. It’s me. Stan. What’s better than finding a bone after you forgot where you buried it? Helping my animal friends at the Dumb Friends League, of course! We have suggestions for getting into the spirit of the season that don’t involve writing a check and make supporting the League as easy as finding a corncob pipe and a button nose for Frosty. So, who’s ready to get wrapped up in happy? That’s right! You are!

Everyday ways to give back

Did you know that every time you buy dog treats or even litter (those cats sure use a lot of that, am I right?) at King Soopers, you can support the League? Once you link your loyalty card to the League, all you have to do is shop at King Soopers and swipe your card or enter your alternate ID at checkout. It’s that easy for your purchases to count toward a quarterly rebate earned by the League! Learn more at

Who shops at Amazon? OK, maybe a better question is who doesn’t shop at Amazon? Anyhoo, the AmazonSmile program donates 0.5 percent of the price of eligible purchases to a customer’s selected nonprofit organization. Each quarter, the AmazonSmile Foundation makes donations to the League based on the previous quarter’s purchases—and the donations add up! Speaking for all pets, we’d love some new toys! You’re probably lacing up your sneakers more often lately. Who couldn’t use a change of scenery right about now, right? Your strolls could help more than just your health and impact the animals in the League’s care with the Walk for a Dog by WoofTrax app. Download the app, select the Dumb Friends League as your charity of choice and take a walk! Donation funds are divided among shelters and rescues based on the number of people who are actively walking for each organization. So, the more active walkers for the League, the more donations we receive. Learn more at

If your family is like mine, there’s been a serious amount of cleaning while they’ve been at home more. It’s a good thing I gathered my toys and hid them. Just because my elephant friend no longer has a trunk or a tail and is missing an ear doesn’t mean he’s still not loved. I digress. Check out the League’s supply wish list at to see what our animal friends could use . . . things you may already have!

Share the League’s stories (like this one; hint, hint) and adoption profiles on social media. Have you seen our Staff Favorite Friday Facebook posts? Those little furballs are adorable! And, the more people who see and share the League’s posts, the better the chances these pets will help create families.

Throwing a paw-ty—and I recommend a virtual or small socially distanced one to be safe. Since friends aren’t bringing a covered dish, instead, ask them to support the League either with a donation or one of this article’s suggestions.

I hope I inspired you to support my friends at the League any way you can help. They deserve to find love and a new family just like I did. From all my friends at the League, human and otherwise, merry everything, and happiness always!

Sniff you later. Stan
