March is Women’s History Month. In honor of the impact women have had on the 110-year history of the Dumb Friends League we wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the incredible individuals who helped shape the organization into what it is today.
Each week we will post an update to the timeline highlighting women that shaped animal welfare in Denver and across Colorado.
We’ll start from the beginning … way back to the start of the Dumb Friends League in September of 1910. Don’t forget to check in for weekly updates to learn more!
Women continue to influence the League
The Dumb Friends League continues to grow under the leadership of our current President and CEO, Dr. Apryl Steele, and with support from nearly 300 employees, with more than 80% of those being women.
Thanks to the decades of influence from outstanding women, the Dumb Friends League helps more than 21,000 homeless pets and horses each year, offers programs and services to our compassionate community, and continues to grow our reach across the state of Colorado.
Today, we celebrate the strong influence of powerful women over our more than 100-year history.
