Blossom: a bit aloof, a whole lot of cute

Do you get your fill of socializing faster than some of your friends—and once you’re done, you’re done? In fact, is it sometimes enough for you to just stay at home, do your own thing and be totally fine? If someone else happens to be in the vicinity, do you only need to interact with them every now and again to be completely content? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, Blossom, a 6-year-old calico, at the Dumb Friends League Buddy Center might be your soulmate.

If you’re looking for a cat who is your shadow, kneads your lap until they find just the right position to settle in for a long nap and is overly affectionate, stop reading and move along. Blossom isn’t for you.

Buuutttt … if you understand (and appreciate) personal space, read on, potential Blossom spirit animal.

Blossom is just plain independent, and she is not going to seek out attention. That’s not to say she’s anti-social, but only on her terms—and she has no problem letting you know when she’s had enough. The spunky feline has a tenuous understanding of social cues, and swatting and nipping are her go-to forms of communication when she’s hit her limit.

Likes include: playing with feather toys … until she doesn’t, pets on her head and neck … until she’s done, alone time and ice water. We know. That’s random.

Dislikes include: pets on her belly (well, wouldn’t you?), anyone who doesn’t respect her boundaries and forced socialization.

Blossom enjoys spending time in her top kennel at the Buddy Center, hanging out in her cozy space, just watching the world go by as she waits for a human who understands her penchant for limited affection. Don’t be deterred by Blossom’s notes and distinct personality. There’s a lid for every pot … err … a home for every pet, and it may be yours.

To recap, if you’re looking for a self-sufficient cat, one who’s committed to her goal of achieving elite aloof status and is easy to please (because she doesn’t want you to try hard), come visit Blossom—especially if you have a quiet home and no children or those older than 10.

Visit our adoptions page or call 303.751.5772 to meet Blossom or other pets in need of loving homes. All adoptions include spay or neuter surgeries, age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip ID, 30 days of pet insurance and a free wellness visit with a participating veterinarian.
